Workout Wednesday: Choose your own!

When I was little, I used to check out bags full of books from the library. As I grew up, the number of books diminished as I moved into longer, "chapter" books more suited to my reading level. From The Babysitter's Club to Sweet Valley High, to Fear Street and beyond...I was hooked on reading. One series I'll never forget: Choose Your Own Adventure (at right).

I don't know what made me think of this series, but it certainly inspires this week's Workout Wednesday—I am giving you the opportunity to choose your own workout, which ultimately means I am giving you more than one...plenty more than one workout today. The rules:

1) Pick one exercise per column.
2) Perform 15 repetitions, unless otherwise indicated.
3) Perform the entire circuit three times through from start to finish.
4) Modify as you see fit, ask if you have questions.

Necessary equipment? Not much, just a set of hand weights well-suited to your back. And a jump rope, but you can always mock that if you don't have one. Again, if you aren't sure what an exercise is, just let me know! I'd be happy to explain.

Question: What was your favorite book to read when you were little? And, what combo are you rockin' from the above?

REMINDER! Don't forget to enter my giveaway! You just might win a loose leaf tea mug from Libre! (Contest ends at midnight EST on Friday, December 9, 2011).

Love this idea! What are up/down planks?

An up/down plank combines the best of a pushup and a plank. Start in plank position with your elbows on the floor. Shift into pushup position by pushing up with your right hand, followed by your left hand. Pause, then lower back down to elbows. Left hand first. Repeat, starting with your left hand this time so you get equal reps of pushes on both sides. Or, you can push up with the right hand for one set, then use the left for your second set. Make sense?
