Hello, February!

And, we're off! Month #2 in 2014. Anything big going on in your life this February? Will you be celebrating Valentine's Day? I've always liked it, even when I didn't have a Valentine of my own. But that's still a few days away, so let's talk first about the here and now.

Last month, I put in writing a list of things I was looking forward to in January. When I sat down to reflect on February, I realized that I was actually forming a list of goals and tasks I wanted to complete (some of which are completely unrelated to fitness). Because it helps me to have these things in writing, I'm listing them here.

Hold me accountable for the following:

1) Participate in the SweatPink/Lorna Jane Move/Nourish/Believe blogger challenge.
2) Maintain my 3 miles/twice-a-week running pattern.
3) Complete some continuing education credits for my Spinning certification.
4) Find and order a maternity dress for an upcoming wedding.
5) Develop weekly meal plans and grocery lists.

I've been working really hard on that last one. If I go in blind I either A) Buy crap that doesn't amount to a meal and end up running out to the grocery store multiple times a week for odds and ends to complete a recipe, or B) Buy the same meals, thus boring my family. Today, we headed to the grocery store and I was accurately prepared because of these...

...and a complimentary subscription to eMeals. I've been testing out this service for a few weeks now. The verdict is still out, and you can expect a full review soon.

Question: What's your process for making grocery lists and meal plans? Any tips?

I'm terrible about making meal plans, but I always have a grocery list. I, too, find myself making the same old stuff and boring the family. Sometimes, I get creative and end up making dishes out of whatever I have, but you know it's hard to have that energy at the end of a work day plus having a toddler! I think you are on the right track. One thing I've found that does help is organizing my grocery list by departments in the store, so I'm not backtracking and wasting time.

I use the app COZI for grocery lists and I also keep a list of our meals on there. It's amazing for grocery lists because you can add items as you think of them during the week (like tissues, spices that I use up, etc.). My acct is synced with my husband so he can add stuff too, and if ask him to stop at the store on his way home from work, he can just use the list on his phone. Highly recommend!

I'll have to look it up. I'm a hard sell on apps like this because I love the old-fashioned, pen/paper way of doing it. Sounds like this one might be super user friendly, though. Thanks for the tip!

I do the same thing with my list! I do a mental walk through whenever I'm writing things down. What goes with what? Ha!
