6 Things I'm Loving Right Now, Vol. 2

Last month, I recapped a few of my favorite things. So in the name of tradition, I thought I'd do it again this month. Recurring post? Perhaps! I mean, it's fun to find out what people are diggin' these days, right? So, here (in no particular order):

1) The Lateral Elliptical

We bought one for our fitness floor this summer and I can't even tell you how popular this evil little elliptical has been! Whenever there is someone on it, you can usually spot someone else hovering close so they can get it next. I've been adding it to my extra strength day and, man...the burn! I don't traditionally like ellipticals, but I love this one.

2) Cooked, by Michael Pollan

I'm a huge fan of Michael Pollan's work. In Defense of Food was awesome, perhaps my favorite. The guy writes non-fiction so well, you forget that your book is actually educating you. Cooked is without exception. I'm only a few pages into the first chapter, but the introduction hooked me and I'm looking forward to making my way through the rest. It's a book about cooking, sure, but it furthers the discussion by talking about how the act of cooking has transformed our society. I'll stop there. Wouldn't want to spoil it for ya.

3) Fresh Bread

I pulled out the bread maker today. I cannot believe how well it works! I don't buy white bread at the store, but this stuff...baked fresh...it's like a puff of Heaven, I swear. I toasted a slice to go with dinner, slapped on a touch of butter and some garlic powder. So yum. Just...so yum.

4) The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon

I can't stay up to watch it, but I've been catching clips of it here and there. I hope he keeps up this momentum because, dang...that man knows how to entertain. And rap. I'm assuming you've seen this:

5) Baby Kicks

I forgot how awesome fetal movement can be. I just love feeling this little baby kick and squirm. It's definitely something I really missed after I had Hannah. There's just something about each kick representing the life growing inside of you, and since we don't know whether that life is a boy or girl's...so cool, man. It's just so cool.

(Note: The following favorite is sponsored by eMeals. While I was not compensated to write this review, they so kindly comped me a subscription to their service. As always, the following opinions are my own.)

6) eMeals

For a little over a month now, I've been testing out a subscription to eMeals. It's essentially a meal planning service. They send you recipes and a grocery list every week that's tailored to your diet. There are a ton of plans to choose from, and I've been toggling between Clean and Classic. Expect a full review soon, but feel free to check out the service while I continue testing it out.

Question: What are you loving right now?

I'm feeling my baby move, too! It's still in the early stages where you scratch your head and say "Was that what I think it was?" I missed the movement after our little boy got here. I want a bread maker! I buy fresh bread from an Amish deli in town, but I hear you can make it for cheapo. I need to break down and buy one, huh? I love Michael Pollen, too. Gotta check out that book. Our gym is getting some new equipment soon - including a rowing machine. Not sure how much rowing I can do with this belly, but I will have to give it a little spin and see. On another note, I'm loving heavy whipping cream in my cup of joe...I had some cream left over from making a dessert last week and I put some in my coffee. Oh my goodness! It made such a difference over plain old 2% milk!

Your biggest challenge on the rowing machine will be the size of your belly, given that the legs/knees typically come into the chest as you row. It's a great workout, though! If not now, you'll have to check it out postpartum, for sure! I have a Zojirushi breadmaker. It's worth every penny, and most of the ingredients are the type you have on-hand. If you don't, they're super cheap to buy and/or they last a really long time...you'll get multiple batches out of a single bag of bread flour, for example.

The lateral elliptical is insanely popular at our gym too. I wanted to start integrating it into my routine regularly and do whole post/review on it, but I can never get on!
