Fresh Berries in the Winter (@Driscollsberry #Giveaway)

NOTE: This giveaway is over.

It's right about this time every year that my craving for fresh fruit really kicks in. I'm one to frequent the farmer's markets in favor of local produce, and this past summer I paid for a share from a farm nearby, so I never lacked in Mother Nature's finest. But here I am, living in Michigan where the ground is frozen and the veggies are shipped in. Sure, that makes them more expensive, but I don't mind paying a little more for something healthy—and fresh fruits and veggies certainly qualify as healthy. But when Driscoll's offered to send me some coupons to snag some berries, I did a little happy dance and promptly accepted.

I mean, who turns away berries?

And if I'm being completely honest, I really wanted a smoothie. The ingredients:

Blueberry and raspberry smoothies are my favorite...well, one favorite of many. I would have added strawberries, too but my grocery store was out. And, well...you can't make a smoothie without some banana and a tub of Cho. I figured Mango would be a nice addition to the lineup. Not pictured: Four ice cubes and a splash of milk.

The end result was, of course, mega delicious. And completely nutritious. Let's take a closer look at what blueberries bring to the table:

So with that, I encourage all of you to add more berries to your daily dose of healthy intake. And lucky you, Driscoll's is willing to send two lucky Daily Dose readers $20 in coupons to purchase said berries. Two readers, $20/each. Winner and winner.

All you have to do is leave a comment below: Tell me what your favorite berry is and how you like to eat it. I'll pick the winners at random on Friday, January 11, 2013 and will announce them on Sunday, January 13, 2013. And just so you know, they are good for any clamshell of Driscoll's berries (including strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries).

Oh, and...clearly I have some competition in the raspberry department these days:

Follow Driscoll's on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up on all the berry action.

Note: Driscoll's did not compensate me for this review. They sent me coupons that allowed me to purchase the berries above. All opinions are my own.

I'm a blueberry FANATIC. I like to eat them slightly frozen atop my oatmeal or cereal the best. ;-)

Blueberries. My favorite way is in Greek Yogurt with frozen bananas and milled flax. However my dairy issues keep me from enjoying it this way so my second favorite is on my protein pancakes.

And thank you for using Disqus cause I get so frustrated with blogspot comments sometimes.. ;)

It definitely is!

Thanks for that feedback! I had some issues with Blogspot comments myself...I wasn't getting comments that people were leaving. Disqus seems to have fixed that...and it's much easier for me to respond!

I would blend blueberries in a green smoothie with spinach, soy beverage, a little bit of greek yogurt, some whey protein powder, and a hint of PB2 to start the morning off! I think I might do that tomorrow!

I LOVE blueberries! I eat them with greek yogurt or just plain jane. I like them too much to sacrifice fresh ones in a smoothie, although I'll use frozen!

Fave berry = blackberries! I love Driscoll's. I like to chop each berry in half and then mix it with plain Chobani!

I love blackberries! I like to just eat them plain. I could eat a whole pint in one sitting :)

It is a toss up between blueberries and raspberries. When I'm craving some chocolate, I put a single chocolate chip inside the raspberry. YUM!

I absolutely love strawberries. Normally I slice them up and maybe add a little natural sweetener and just eat them as a snack. Have to admit though that I also seriously love them chocolate-covered!

Nothing beats a chocolate covered strawberry. Nothing!

I love blueberries! In oatmeal, mixed with a spinach salad, or just plain by the handful. You'll find them in my kitchen year round!
