#FoodiePenPals: The Rogue Runner

Um, July...is that you? Why are you back so soon? Gah! Unbelievable and yet, it's totally true. We've reached the mid-point of this year and before we know it, we'll be gasping in awe at the onset of the Christmas aisle in every store we frequent.

I can't even handle it, so let's not talk about it (July).

Let's talk about Foodie Pen Pals. Yesterday was reveal day, which I clearly did not do, so let's get right to the goods which came at me from Lizzie of The Rogue Runner:

What a fun little box filled with goodies from Virginia! And some sweet napkins which might not be from Virginia per se, but are still quite adorbs. Love me some pink and green. And granola.

I still have some of this left. You might say that I'm forcing myself to savor it. Granola doesn't usually last. It's akin to chocolate around these parts.

Hushpuppies, on the other hand, are not something we usually eat. It's not that we don't like them, we just don't eat them—I think it's the whole frying thing that gets us. We don't eat a lot of fried foods, but I was bound and determined use up the mix so I put on my thinking cap and ultimately came up with this:

Hushpuppies, in biscuit form, with the addition of fresh chives and garlic. Crispy tough on the outside and gooey warm on the inside.

Just the way I like my biscuits, really.

Last but not least, some Blackberry Jam. I will never stop loving peanut butter and jelly, so that's what I've been doing with it (and the apple butter, too):

If you aren't a Foodie Pen Pal yet, here's how you can become one:

Who knows, we might get paired up and oh, wouldn't that be fun!

Speaking of fun, it's just too nice to stay inside today so we're heading down to the beach. I may splurge on some pizza...I'm not even kidding you when I say we have the best pizza place in the world right off the sands of our beach. Well, it's not my beach, though I like to pretend as much.

Happy Sunday!

Question: What is your town's claim to fame? Did you work out today or was it a rest day? I ran 4.75 miles...and I think I beat the heat, thankfully.
